This demo creates a new database instance for each request. When a user clicks 'Get Photos' a fresh Xen instance gets spawned and booted up. A database application inside the instance searches ~300M of city images and returns any matches. The instance shuts itself down after the search completes.
We believe that the on-demand provisioning of computing resources is the path to true elasticity. This demo shows that the instance-per-query approach is feasible for database instances. Our previous demo – Zerg – demonstrated this for web servers.Tweet
